About us

norwayferries.com is a multilingual information and booking site for ferry routes to Norway. It compares crossings from Kiel across the Baltic Sea and from Hirtshals and Copenhagen across the Skagerrak to Oslo, Bergen, Kristiansand and Larvik. The routes are operated by several ferry companies, including Color Line, Fjord Line and Go Nordic Cruiseline. Bookings are completed with our booking partner Direct Ferries.

By sea, Norway is reached from three countries: Germany, Denmark and Sweden. Every route on this site casts off in one of them, which makes the crossing a second leg rather than the start of the trip, and what you pick it for differs sharply. Kiel to Oslo leaves in the afternoon and docks in the middle of the capital the next morning, and plenty of people book it as the holiday itself and not only as transport. Hirtshals is the opposite case: a short Skagerrak run to Larvik, Kristiansand or Bergen, taken to cut driving out of the day. Copenhagen to Oslo sits between the two. The coastal ship along the Norwegian shore is not a way into the country at all but a journey inside it, which is why it has a page of its own here instead of a place in the route comparison. We work through each option with ports, sailing times and what it means for a car, a motorhome or a dog.

We are not the official website of any ferry operator; timetables, fares and conditions of carriage are set by Color Line, Fjord Line and Go Nordic Cruiseline themselves. We are not a Norway travel guide: we deliberately leave out sightseeing in Norway, hotel booking, flights and car rental. We do not sell tickets ourselves: bookings are completed with our partner Direct Ferries, and their current prices, availability and terms apply.
