The Mini Cruises to Norway
The Mini Cruises to Norway
A mini cruise combines the crossing with a short break at sea - you book the outbound and return sailing together, sleep on board, and fit in time ashore at your destination in between. Four routes to Norway are particularly well suited to this.
Kiel-Oslo with Color Line
The ships Color Fantasy and Color Magic depart Norwegenkai in Kiel daily at 2:00 pm and reach Oslo the next morning. On board you'll find twelve restaurants and bars, a shopping promenade, a swimming pool, a spa and evening shows. In Oslo you get around four hours ashore before the ship heads back to Kiel in the afternoon. In total, the mini cruise takes three days with two nights on board.
Copenhagen-Oslo with Go Nordic Cruiseline
Since November 2024, Go Nordic Cruiseline has operated the overnight ferry between the two capitals. The Nordic Crown and Nordic Pearl depart Copenhagen at 4:30 pm and arrive in Oslo the next morning. With around six and a half hours ashore, this route gives you the most time in the city. On board there are restaurants, tax-free shopping, live music and a nightclub.
From Hirtshals with Fjord Line
Fjord Line sails in the evening from Hirtshals in Denmark along the Norwegian coast to Stavanger and on to Bergen. On this coastal voyage aboard the MS Bergensfjord or MS Stavangerfjord, you get a full day in your destination city. The ships run on environmentally friendly LNG power and offer restaurants, lounges and a tax-free shop.

Questions and answers about the mini cruise to Norway
What is a mini cruise?+
On a mini cruise you book the outbound and return sailing as one package, sleep on board, and have time ashore at your destination in between. The cabin is always included; meals are usually optional extras depending on the operator. It's the most relaxed way to experience Norway on a short trip, without driving long distances yourself.
Which mini cruises to Norway are available?+
Four routes work well as a mini cruise - Kiel-Oslo with Color Line, Copenhagen-Oslo with Go Nordic Cruiseline, and from Hirtshals the Fjord Line connections to Stavanger and Bergen. All four sail overnight.
How long does a mini cruise take, and how much time do I get at the destination?+
Usually three days with two nights on board. On Kiel-Oslo you get around four hours in Oslo, and on Copenhagen-Oslo about six and a half hours. From Hirtshals with Fjord Line you have a full day in Stavanger or Bergen.
Can I bring my car on the mini cruise?+
Yes. The mini cruise packages on Kiel-Oslo and Copenhagen-Oslo can be booked with a vehicle, so you can continue your journey in Norway afterwards. If you just want the short trip with time ashore, travel as a foot passenger.
