Norway Ferry Timetable
Select a route and travel date to see the departures currently available from Kiel, Copenhagen and Hirtshals. Times can change seasonally or operationally; the operator and your booking confirmation are authoritative.
The overnight ferries to Oslo
Two routes take you straight to the Norwegian capital, both overnight and both daily all year. Kiel - Oslo is the longer of the two and the only direct link from Germany; Copenhagen - Oslo is the shorter one and worth a look if you are driving through Denmark anyway.
From Hirtshals to southern Norway
From the northern tip of Denmark, Norway is close. Kristiansand and Larvik are served several times a day and are the quickest crossings in the whole network. Stavanger and Bergen lie further west and north respectively and sail less often, but they save you the long drive overland.
What to watch out for in the timetable
In the summer high season extra sailings are added; in winter individual ones are dropped. A yard period also takes a sailing out of the schedule. The times of the overnight ferries to Oslo, by contrast, stay largely stable.
Choosing between Kiel and Hirtshals is a trade between time at sea and time on the road: from Kiel you are longer on board and shorter in the car, from Hirtshals the other way round. Which is quicker depends on where you start, not on the timetable.
On the Oslo routes and to Bergen the cabin is part of the journey. During the summer holidays cabins and vehicle spaces go before the crossing itself sells out.
